Community Charity Shop

The Community Charity Shop exists as a place for our local people to visit, to receive a warm welcome, browse and to talk to our friendly staff. We can direct those who ask to local support agencies for a variety of needs.

We are in the community, run by the community, for the community! We are affiliated with St James Church, Tile Hill and love to be able to share the love of God with those who visit the shop.

We sell second hand goods, kindly donated by the locals. The shop uses the money received from the sale of these goods to put back into the community.

We have been able to donate funds to a number of causes and needs locally over the years. This year we have been keen to support local charities who are caring for those particularly affected by the coronavirus pandemic; whether that be providing practical, emotional, or mental health support.

Our 2020 funds so far have been directed to the following charities:

Hope Coventry (including Good Neighbours, Christians Against Poverty, Coventry Prayer House and others); Coventry City Mission (including Foodbank, Crossline, Giving Tree, Building Blocks and others); Your Local Air Ambulance; The Light House Christian Care Ministry; Zoe’s Place Coventry; Coventry Haven; Tile Hill Food Hub (Emergency Food Bank); and funds for computer technology for 3 local primary schools to help them continue to educate throughout the pandemic: Leigh CofE Academy, Mount Nod Primary School and Templars Primary School.

“I love volunteering at the charity shop. I really enjoy organising the stock, displaying items for sale, showcasing the shop on social media, meeting the customers and working in a team that is making a real difference. I know that through our efforts, we are raising funds that allow hundreds of local people have their greatest needs met when they are experiencing a really difficult time.”

To be part of this community initiative come and speak to us about volunteering, or the other ways you could help!

We are currently recruiting volunteers for a number of roles, including general shop-based work, DIY/maintenance, online sales, social media advertising, window dressing and more. We will need extra helpers to sort donations once lockdown is lifted, so please do get in contact.

Our Manager, Jacky, would love to meet you to discuss how you could help. You can request volunteer application packs from the church office on: admin@stjamesfletch.org.uk or contact us on Facebook: @communitycharityshopcv4

Our opening hours are 10am-2pm Tuesday-Saturday.
